Yammy Got a New Pair of Shoes!

We'll I would have to say adding new parts to my motorcycle has been actually more exciting that adding new jewelry accessories to my wardrobe.
It's really weird how you become so attached to your bikes.
The term "mechanical horse" has a whole new meaning to me now....in the sense that, as a previous horse owner, you have a certain connection with that animal.
You have that feeling that you need to care for it! Feed it fuel, change it's oil, and keep it clean!
On that note I'll share a short video of my new "accessories" for my Yammy!

This is the Bracket I am using now to hold my IPhone...they do make them now for the "5"

Sometimes you can find great deals on these things in there bargain dept!  They may be demos
or slightly scratched but you can save a ton of money. I got my IPhone bracket here for $100!
They are offering a few deals now on the "4" Bracket. See details below!

Apple iPhone 4 Motorcycle & Bicycle Handlebar Bracket iBracket Part Number: 10959

Call to Order
1-800-491-2926
$115.00  Regularly $130.80
This iPhone bracket wasn't properly fed and cared for by its first owner, but after a quick tune-up here at TT-USA HQ, its ready for further adventures. The closure lever shows wear in the anodizing, and the mount in general is in 'not new' condition, but there's no damage that interferes with its function. 7/8" U-bracket included for handlebar mounting .As with all products with moving parts, occasional lubrication will keep the mount in peak operational fitness.

Obviously there are a bunch of things you can do to the xt225 mechanically...this info is widely avail online. Did not feel the need to elaborate since jetting kits etc are somewhat easy to find .

Running on Red Dirt!

I have included below ...just a small taste of the trail running enviroment we
have out here in Northern AZ.
The beauty is humbling and the red earth beneath my feet is comforting.
My work eviroment consists of an over abundance of noise pollution, so when I'm home
I seek silence.
Retreating to the back country is the fix I need to help keep me grounded and balanced.
I have found the more time I spend in "the woods",  the more
profound and rewarding my life is.
Don't get me wrong.. I love loud rock music..
however,
a little of this and a little of that keeps the mind, body and soul in check.
I hope this helps to inpsire you to
"GET OUTSIDE and GET DIRTY!"

Trail Head..Nice little initial climb!

My Ride...The Yamaha 2007 XT225...A Little History

The Yamaha XT225, or known in some markets as the Yamaha Serow, was a dual-sport motorcycle produced by Yamaha from 1986 to 2007. The XT225 was preceded and superseded by the XT250. Power is supplied by a 223cc single-cylinder, air-cooled four-stroke engine featuring a SOHC and 2 valves.  The engine produces 15 kW of power and 19Nm of torque.  The XT225 has a reputation for being a lightweight dual-purpose motorcycle which is suited to many applications.

31.9"
Wheelbase

Dry Weight

Fuel Capacity
2.3 Gallons

Key Features:
  • Off-road capability and full street equipment come together in one go-anywhere do-anything package.
  • Long-travel suspension and over 11 inches of ground clearance live under a seat only 31.9 inches from the ground.
  • Electric start makes firing up the counterbalanced four-stroke effortless.
  • A dry weight of only 238 pounds makes the XT225 super-maneuverable and responsive.

Why is this a great bike for me???
I am 5'4 approx 110lbs (on a good day)...I can tip toe this bike
and not have to worry about the weight getting the best of me.
It just goes...and goes...and goes.
Since I am a fairly new rider,  my off road technical skills are still in the works
but the Yamaha is a very forgiving motorcycle.
Rocks...no problem, Sand...not an issue,
Ruts....Well these are the riders (my) demons that have to be tamed.
Keep your head up!! Weight transfer!!! Ride through it!!!
This motorcycle has allowed me to build a ton of confidence quick!
It is amazing on the paved road (for what it is) as well.
I can stay around 70mph...with out any real issues.
Over 70mph I get a little wobble which is caused by the knobbies...
Yes, a heavier adventure bike would be much more comfortable on pavement,
however, my main goal was to ride off road with the ability to ride paved,
when I needed to get from one dirt road, or trail, to another...
For this, the Yamaha XT serves it purpose profoundly!
If you are a smaller rider, are looking for a very dependable bike,
and want something fun, forgiving and easy to ride....take a good,
long look at the Yamaha XT225 or 250. You won't be disappointed.

 A Peek at the New 2013 XT250!!
(I'm thinking about a trade in : )

The dual sport character of the Yamaha XT250 has conquered a lot of fans. To keep its fans loyal, Yamaha came up with a series of small upgrades for the 2013 year model. The biggest change is represented by the new fuel injection system which replaces the earlier model’s 33mm Teikei carburetor. Yamaha claims that thanks to the new fuel injection system the bike offers an improved fuel economy of 76 mpg - a 3 mph improvement when compared to the old 73 mpg rating.
The bike is propelled by a 249cc air-cooled SOHC engine married to a five speed transmission.
The engine remained unchanged, but it received a larger gas tank to improve the bike’s range
(2.6 gallons versus 2.4 gallons on last year’s model).
Another important modification was the replacement of the old CDI (Capacitive Discharge Ignition) ignition system with a new TCI (Transistor Controlled Ignition) technology.

Lets Ride!!

"Desert Daze" 2013 - Dual Sport Motorcycle Event

Just got back from Dragoon, AZ.. where the "Desert Daze" Dual sport event took place. www.dualsportdesertdaze.com
The riding down there was great,  however only two women were in attendance.
Bottom line.. they would love to have more ladies out there!! Come on.. Let's ride!
The area supports all levels of riding from extremely easy routes to "I'm not ready for that!" hard.
This is a very laid back event, in which the routes were unguided,
but group riding is alive & well & encouraged.
There are a few guys out there that would be happy to guide,
and I'm sure it could be set up in advance.
They have compiled GPS tracks for most of the routes that can be downloaded prior to attending.
The other gal out there was riding a BMW 650 xcountry and I was on my Yamaha XT225.
The event is based out of the Triangle T Guest Ranch,  which offers tent and RV camping, as well as casitas. We were in a tent and reserved an RV spot so we could have water and electric to plug in all the gadgets. Worked out good!  Dry camping is abundantly available.

Moab Rally

There is an off road adventure bike rally held in Moab, UT.
I gained a lot of confidence on my bike here because the terrain is limitless.
You have DEEP sand, large slip rock, DEEP sand, small rocky trails,
DEEP sand and Water crossings! Did I mention DEEP sand?
These are few videos to give you a taste of the beautiful terrain!
This rally is usually held at the end of September.
Here is a link to last years …to give you a taste of what it is all about.
Definitely worth the trip. http://www.adventureriderchallenge.com/.
